April Crochet Along Granny Square Pattern

I’m super excited to share the April Crochet Along Granny Square Pattern with you! This month is one of my favorite spring flowers…the Pansy!

To Make the Pansy

Round 1: With dusty green yarn, make a magic ring, ch 1 , 5 hdc inside ring, sl st to first ch 1.

Round 2: In front loops, 1 sc into each of the 5 hdc from round 1, sl st in first sc, break off dusty green.

Round 3: Sl st dusty purple yarn to any sc, [ch 6, sl st into next sc] two times, ch 4, sl st into next sc, ch 5, sl st into next sc, ch 4, sl st into 1st of ch 6.

Round 4: In ch 6 loop, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 9 trc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, in next ch 6 loop, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 9 trc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, break off dusty purple yarn. Join pink yarn with 1 sc into ch 4 loop, in same sp, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, in ch 5 loop, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 7 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, in ch 4 loop, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, sl st into beginning sc, break off pink.

Using a yarn needle, weave in all ends.

 

To Make the Granny Square Base

Round 1: On backside of pansy, join fisherman yarn with sl st to first st of pansy round 1, ch 2, skip st, sl st to next st of pansy round 1, repeat two more times creating a square, join with sl st to first sl st of this round.

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1 into ch 2 sp, [3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1 into next ch 2 sp], repeat 3 times, join with sl st to 3rd of ch 3.

Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc into same sp, [3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc into next ch 1 sp, 3 dc into next ch 1 sp] repeat 3 more times, sl st into 3rd of ch 3.

Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc into same sp, 3 dc into next sp, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc into next sp,  *3 dc into next sp, repeat * two times, **3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc into next sp, repeat from * to ** three times.

Round 5: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc into same sp, [3 dc into next sp] repeat two times, 3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc into next sp, *3 dc into next sp, repeat from * three times, **3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc into next sp, repeat form * to ** three times, sl st into 3rd of ch 3.

Round 6: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc into same sp, [3 dc into next sp] repeat three times, 3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc into next sp, *3 dc into next sp, repeat from * four times, **3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc into next sp, repeat form * to ** three times, sl st into 3rd of ch 3.

Round 7: 1 sc into same sp, 1 sc into the top of each dc from previous round, 3 sc into each corner sp, sl st into top of 1st sc. Fasten off

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
