Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

It’s that time of year, when the temperature outside starts to drop and I just can’t wait to turn on the oven and start baking again! Since I always seem to have a few over-ripe bananas sitting on the counter I make a lot of banana bread. This time I decided to switch it up a little and made this yummy chocolate banana bread recipe. This quick and easy bread is slightly sweet, deliciously chocolate and sure to be a hit with everyone in your family!

Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 C. vegetable oil
  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 C. flour
  • 1/2 C. baking cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 C. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 C. chopped walnuts (optional)

Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe

Mix all of the wet ingredients with a mixer until just combined. In a separate bowl combine all the dry ingredients (except the chocolate chips and walnuts) with a fork. Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients and mix on low until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts until mixed evenly through out the batter. Pour batter into a well greased and floured bread pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 60-70 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

This bread is delicious straight out of the oven, but tastes even better the next day after the chocolate and banana flavors have had a bit of time to blend. I like mine plain and slightly warmed in the microwave, or try it with a little nutella for even more chocolate goodness!
