I’m so excited to announce our crochet along! What’s a crochet along? It’s a twelve month crochet project. Every month I’ll give you a new floral inspired granny square pattern and at the end of the year, we’ll put it all together to make a beautiful afghan. Ready to start crocheting? Great! Let’s get this crochet along floral inspired granny square afghan party started!
Before we can start crocheting, we need to talk yarn. You’ll need a medium (4) weight yarn in five different colors. I like Lion Brand’s Vanna’s Choice. I’m using Fisherman, Linen, Dusty Green, Dusty Purple and Pink. You can use any color combination you like but keep in mind each square will have the same boarder color. This way, when we assemble the afghan it will have a cohesive look. My border color will be the off white fisherman color.
As far as how much yarn to buy, to be honest, I have no idea. I’m starting with one skein of each color. I know, I’m taking a risk with matching dye lots and all, but I’ve done this multiple times when I make blankets and have never had a problem. This also enables me to buy only what I need and to use as many craft store coupons as I possibly can! I hate paying full price for yarn!
Here’s just a few more supplies that you’ll need to get started:
Now go get your supplies and meet me back here later this week for our first floral inspired granny square pattern.
