Crochet Wreath for Fall

The start of September also means the start of the Fall season. My favorite of the seasons, with it Fall brings cooler weather, cozy sweaters, warm chai flavored drinks and Fall decor. Fall also makes me want to break out the yarn and start crocheting again, so this past weekend I whipped up a quick and easy crochet wreath for Fall and am sharing the pattern with you today.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • foam wreath
  • 2 skeins of a super bulky weight yarn of your choice (I used Lion Brands Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Grey Marble)
  • size N-13 (9mm) crochet hook
  • assorted fabric flowers (I found mine in the scrap booking section at my local craft store)
  • glue gun
  • 2 crocheted flowers (patterns here)

Begin by covering your foam wreath with your yarn. I used the technique shown here by Good Knits. It doesn’t matter how many stitches you create as long as you have an even number of stitches when you are complete. I ended up having 114 stitches, but depending on the weight of the yarn you use, you may have more or less.

For the first row, chain 1 and single crochet into each of the foundation stitches all the way around the wreath. At the end slip stitch into chain 1.

For the second row, chain 2 then double crochet 4 times into the first single crochet stitch. *Skip 1 single crochet and double crochet 5 times into the next single crochet.* Repeat from * * around and finish by slip stitching into top of chain 2 stitch.

To finish the wreath you’ll need to make two crochet flowers in a complimentary color. You can find the pattern for the flowers and how to finish off our crochet wreath for Fall here!

Thanks for sharing this idea! I have made the Good Knits wreath and loved it. I like the idea of crocheting several more rows for a ruffle! Never thought of it! Thanks again:)
