Here’s a quick and easy Valentine’s Day treat that you can put together in just a few minutes but will look like you spent all day baking!
Valentine’s Day is the second busiest holiday for a floral designer, right behind Mother’s Day. Simply put, that means my life is taken over by flowers the week of Valentine’s Day. I literally do nothing but process and arrange flowers for an entire week. Oh, and occasionally sleep and maybe eat something. It’s a long and crazy week!
Although my children are no longer little kids, and I don’t get to see them for very long on that day, I still like to celebrate with them. I usually buy them a few small gifts (weeks ahead of time!) and try to make the day special by treating them to some sweet treats. This easy Cupid’s Arrow Valentine’s Day treat is perfect for my crazy life. There is no baking involved and the arrows can be made ahead of time. I simply assemble and serve!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Begin by cutting the silver glitter card stock. You will need 10 (1.25″ W x 2″ L) pieces. (see example 1)
Fold each piece in half the long way. Cut each folded piece into a parallelogram. Creating the same angle on either end. (see example 2) Then following that same angle, cut a series of slits about 1/8″ apart, in toward the fold, stopping about 1/8″ before the fold so as not to cut all the way through. (see example 3)
You’ve just created the feather part of the arrow. Unfold the feather and separate some of the slits by bending every other one forward. This will help create a more natural feathered look.
To finish the arrows, use a low temperature hot glue gun to glue a lollipop stick to the back side of each of the ten feathers.
When you’re ready to serve your Cupid’s Arrow Valentine’s Day Treats, simply unwrap the Little Debbie cakes and insert the feathered lollipop stick into the top center part of the cake. I placed mine onto small heart shaped paper doilies (optional) and placed onto a serving platter for presentation purposes.
