I was so excited ten years ago when we moved into our current home about the idea of having a laundry room. It seemed so luxurious to have a room on the first floor, dedicated to doing the laundry. Fast forward ten years and I hate it. Our big front loading machines are great but make the space feel small, the cat’s litter box is in there which means there is constantly cat litter on the floor (yuck!), and the one shelf I have in the room is mounted so high I can’t even reach it. Not the luxury I had imagined.
So it’s time to take back my laundry room and make it a space I can enjoy using again.
I have a lot of clothes that need to be hung to dry and right now I just lay them out on top of the washer and dryer. This accordion drying rack on Amazon would be a nice drying solution. I like that it folds back out of the way when not in use.
I currently have an over the door ironing board holder, but I like this ironing board holder on Amazon better. It holds a spray bottle and starch in addition to storing the iron and board.
I love this idea of hiding the litter box in a cabinet on HausPanther. Not only would it hide the box, but it would give me a bench to set the laundry basket down on and maybe even help to keep some of the loose cat litter under control!
I think instead of a wire shelf that I can’t reach, I would prefer to have cabinets above my washer and dryer. Not only will they hold more, but they will hide any clutter and those unsightly plastic containers of detergent and softener. I love these clothes pin pulls, aren’t they adorable? I think they’d be perfect on my new cabinet doors!
My laundry room also has a utility sink. You know, one of those ugly, cheap plastic tub like sinks. I think it may be time for an upgrade. I love this galvanized tub sink and the subway tile behind it, now that’s luxurious! Now to get the hubby on board with all of my great ideas!
