Moving Day Chicago

Rob, Faye and me!

Yesterday I participated in Moving Day Chicago. Moving Day is the National Parkinson’s Foundation annual fundraising walk/run event to help fight against Parkinson’s disease. Our father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a little over a year ago and has been actively fighting against the disease since. My boyfriend’s mother also has Parkinson’s and has been fighting it since 2000.

Last month my family in Buffalo participated in the Buffalo Moving Day. This inspired us to check out Moving Day Chicago! We walked as team “Faye’s Friends.” We had an extra treat, our sister Marie and boyfriend Bob came in from Buffalo and joined us. The weather was fantastic and we were impressed on how well the event was organized.

Faye was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 15 years ago. At 81, she’s amazing! There was a short walk and a long walk, she picked the long one. Faye works out daily on her rowing machine and is proof that movement is key in the treatment of Parkinson’s.

Make sure you visit the Parkinson Foundation Moving Day website to learn more about the event and how they help those with Parkinson’s. If you can make a donation, great! Any support is welcome.

Salute, Denise

That is a great cause to check out! Thanks so much for sharing about how you participated in this. Your boyfriend’s mother is a real inspiration.

She really is Keelie! We’re looking forward to doing the walk again next year!
